The Crayon Box has a long history of providing a quality child care and preschool experience for young children. Physical, emotional, spiritual and academic experiences are provided for every phase of the child’s development. Our center’s top priorities are that each child is nurtured and loved in a safe environment. The Crayon Box is also a bus stop for the Berrien Springs Schools providing before and after school care through 8 years of age.
Post Adoption Resource Center
The Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor is an afterschool and summer youth development organization serving youth 6 to 18 years of age. The Boys & Girls Club helps members develop positive, life-changing goals through education-based activities, academic support, nutritious meals and a place to learn and grow. Our core programming activities involve academic, art, computer technology, drama, and sports and recreation that prepare members for academic success, character and citizenship development, and to live healthy lifestyles. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those that need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, & responsible citizens. Learning in a fun, safe environment gives our members and their families a place they can count on each day.
Education and Childcare
Fernwood is a special place where people, plants, and nature come together. Beautiful gardens surrounded by forest are tucked into a landscape of 105 acres of cultivated and natural areas along the scenic St. Joseph River valley. Miles of trails await, and indoors, visitors may enjoy an art gallery, fern conservatory, nature center, cafe, and gift shop. Fernwood offers many possibilities for learning and enrichment, including classes, workshops, lectures, concerts, trips, exhibits, and special events.
The Great Start Collaborative is a partnership of community leaders, business owners, charitable and faith-based organizations, health and human service agencies, educators, and parents. Together, these groups work to provide a network of resources that help families obtain services that will allow their children to succeed in every facet of their lives. The Great Start Parent Coalition is a group of parent volunteers who serve as advocates for early childhood. The Parent Coalition members serve as a “voice” for parents in the community and work on service projects, such as diaper drives, book drives, and back to school fairs.
In partnership with families and the church, Immanuel Early Childhood Development Center is a positive, vibrant, creative and exciting community of Christian Teachers and Caregivers who provide a safe, loving Christian environment for children to grow socially, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.
Lory’s Place, a Grief Healing and Education Center of Hospice at Home, a Lakeland HealthCare Affiliate
Lory’s Place is a family service center whose mission is to provide peer support group services for grieving children and adults throughout Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana. Lory’s Place provides a safe, comforting atmosphere in which grief healing can take place following the death of a family member or an important friend. Lory’s Place is available at no charge to all who come for assistance.
